Community Development

In 1999, Croydon Peoples Housing Association launched the Community Development Team (CDT), which undertakes social development activity in the areas in which we operate. In the past, CPHA has delivered the following projects:

Women Mean Business - providing targeted training programmes for mothers wanting to return back to work or full time education.

Focus on Youth - programme of accredited music and DJ courses to engage 13-19 year olds in personal development activities to raise educational attainment and reduce antisocial behaviour.

Croydon Peoples Housing Association has developed strategies to tackle the multiple and interconnected problems that tenants may face, such as unemployment, affordable housing, education and crime, lack of affordable childcare services to effectively create, maintain and support sustainable communities. There is also a clear emphasis on developing effective means of consulting and involving service users and BME residents in the boroughs. CPHA's Community Development Team is unique in the range and scope of its activities working with a wide range of organisations and partners to effect change and a real difference to the lives of people in the local community.

The focus of CDT is to develop social regeneration programmes which will promote social inclusion through enhancing employment, education and training opportunities for local BME communities. By empowering and encouraging residents to take an active role in all areas of the Associations activities and by developing strategic partnerships with statutory, voluntary and business sectors; so that they will provide their service delivery to BME communities.

TRANSFORMING LONDON'S HEALTHCARE

Healthcare for London is developing new ways to improve the healthcare of Londoners over the next ten years. This transformation is a major task, but already partner organisations, working groups and members of the public have come up with ideas to improve the quality, safety and accessibility of London’s healthcare. A consultation about the proposals, led by London's 31 Primary Care Trusts and Surrey PCT, has now begun. Use the link below to find out more and let your views be known:

The Sutton and Merton NHS Trust is currently in the process of consultations regarding healthcare delivery in Sutton and Merton. CPHA tenants living in these Boroughs can use the following link to find out more about the NHS Trust in their areas:
